History
Shenmue was released November 8th, 2000 in America. The first chapter and game in the Shenmue series, it met with mixed reviews, although who really cares what the professional media thinks? It cost roughly $40-60 million to produce, an astronomical figure at the time, and carried most of the pitiful hopes Sega still claimed. The game looked great, played well, and had fair replay value. A loyal following played the game to death and demanded more.
"Shen-moo" or "Shen-mu-eh" will both get you funny looks from any crowd, so it's best to just call it "Shenny."
